Mangalore - City of adventure

I would take this time to write about my place, Mangalore. Mangalore which is now renamed as Mangaluru is also a major port city of the Indian state Karnataka. The city was named after the Hindu deity Mangaladevi, the presiding deity of the Mangaladevi temple. It has been called in different names by different language people. In Kannada it is called Mangaluru, in Tulu it is called Kudla, in Konkani it is called Kodial, Maikala in Beary and the keralites call it as Mangalapuram. In all together, this city has six names. It is located on the coast of the Arabian sea and is most famous for Port, temples and beaches. The port here is one of the major Indian port that lies in the backwater of Netravathi and Gurupura river. This Mangalorean port handles 75% of India’s Coffee and cashew expert. The city has a Tropical climate and gets a good rainfall every year. It also has a very good education system and has produced a lot of good personalities. Not only in education, even in sports it has a major hand. Various rulers of Kadambas, Alupas, Vijayanagara empire, Keladi  nayaks and even the Portuguese has controlled this city. Mangalore ranks amongst the cleanest cities in India and is one of the most cosmopolitan non-metro cities of India. It was ranked 13^th and second in Karnataka for most favourable destination for business.

You want to eat yummy fishes? You want to play or take a sunbathing on beaches? You want to go religious and visit temples? Or you want to watch the beauty of nature? Then pack your bags and visit this beautiful city – Mangalore. The beaches here are: Mangalore beach, Panambur beach, Tannirubhavi beach, someshwar beach and Surathkal beach. Wow! That’s a hell lot of beaches. It would be exciting to lie on the beach and watch the sunset or build sand castles. Definitely the kids will enjoy a lot but the fun is not restricted only to them. Even elders go to their childhood days and start having fun. But don’t forget when you go for a bath or a swim that Safety first and fun next.

Are you a religious person? Don’t worry, there are lot many temples and churches here. Well let me name some famous ones : Kudroli Sri Gokarnatheshwara temple, Durga Parameshwari temple, Kadri Manjunatha temple, Kateel temple, Mangaladevi temple, Thousand pillar jain temple, Shri Manjunath temple, Shri sharavu mahaganapathi temple, kudupu sri anantha padmanabha temple, Polali Rajeshwari temple, Shree vishnumurthy temple, Maha maya temple and many more. Too many temples! All temples have the beauty of structure of their own and will definitely give a peace of mind to all the devotees who visit with a hope that they will receive the solution to their problems.

 

There are even many churches her such as: St. Sebastian church, Our Lady of Mercy church, St. Lawrence church, St. Antony church, Milagres church and many more. The city is also filled with Catholics who speak in Konkani and is generally called Mangalore Konkani which is a lot different than Goa Konkani.

Other than these religious places, there is a beautiful island called the St. Mary’s island. It lies in the Malpe beach and is 20mins boat ride from the beach. A good place to party or hangout.The city also has lot many Parks like Kadri park, Pilikula animal park, Kadri hill park and Sammilan shetty’s butterfly park. There is a huge cricket stadium known as Mangala stadium and also huge play grounds such as Nehru maidana. There a lot of restaurants with awesome coastal food such as fish, squids, crabs, prawns, pork and many more things to surprise you. Once you have tasted them, you will never say no to the yummy food here.

The city is filled with wonderful people and wonderful places. I feel proud and happy to be in this city. Do visit this city to make your vacation a wonderful and memorable one to you. The city of adventure is waiting for your visit. Don’t worry about traveling, as it has an international airport, a sea port and national highways.

A Ghost Bursting Adventure

It is said that Charity begins at home. But I believe adventure too begins at home itself. The adventure I am going to narrate is way too freaky and scary one, as this happened to one of my neighbor who lives with his small family. He does his daily earnings and lived a happy life.

This happened few months ago, on a dark night. Since I live in a village area, there is a problem of power cut every evening. It was really dark and there was a chill in the air. My neighbors’ were busy with their daily work and so were we. Then all of a sudden, there was darkness inside the house too, it’s the daily problem of power cut. Me, along with my family moved out to the balcony and lit and candle and started with our family gossips. In the meantime, my eyes stopped at the window of my neighbor’s house. They were inside their house. I could see their shadows move in the window glass. And all of a sudden there was no noise from their house. The light of the candle started to fade and finally disappeared. It was pitch dark and very silent for a moment. But then I ignored and started to continue the funny chats with my family. After an hour the light was back and we moved in to throw ourselves on the cozy beds.

The next morning when I woke up, I could see my neighbors at my door step. They looked pretty frightened. My mom approached and invited them in. They sat on the sofa staring at our faces. Then they started in a soft voice that, they got scared by the terrifying voices last night. They could hear the ghost laughs and were quite freaky. Listening to this my mom got scared too. She listened to them without blinking her eyes. But I could see my sister laughing like a hyena in the corner. I asked her the reason. She told, ‘It was not the ghost laughing, it was the two of us laughing last night’. First I too started to laugh but then felt a bit weird about my own laughing way. Thus that was the last time I laughed in that style. Never ever laughed like that ever. But the experience was really funny and in the end the ghost was busted in my own home.

Such were the adventure of me and my laugh. Ha ha ha ha……….

Fifty Items in my Bucket List

Life is meant to be lived. Live each day like it is your last. Every human being has some or the other wishes to do something in their life. Some would say that they want to have tea in the foothills of The Himalayas, while some others would say that they want to float on the sea. Some would say they want to see and enjoy snow falling while some others would say that they want to kiss a cobra. These are not meant to fulfill others wish. But these are something which we want for ourselves. Something which keeps us happy and satisfied. And here I am with my bucket list which I want to do before I die. 
1. Every girl has a dream to ride a bike and so is mine. Riding the bikes like FZS, Royal Enfield, Harley Davidson and many more are something which I want to learn. It gives me an immense pleasure and happiness by riding them. When a girl rides a bike it seems like she is courageous. It is a unique quality which I want to see in me. 
2. I want to have an album of my own. And also sing for the Bollywood movies. I want the world to recognize my talent of singing and become world-wide famous. 
3. It was always my dream to see the world under-water. Yes, I am talking about the Scuba diving. Though I don't know to swim, I would try it just to see the beauty of the under-water world. I believe that there is peace and silence there which I want to experience. 

4. I am afraid of heights. But when it comes to Sky-diving I just forget it. I want to add this to my bucket list. Flying so high and looking at the beauty of the world is bliss.  Also this will help me to overcome my fear.

5. Once in my life, I want to visit Spain. There are various festivals celebrated in a unique way. One among them which I want to experience is La Tomatina, A tomato fight which is purely entertainment. I want to feel the happiness that the people get in playing this interesting event.

6. I want to be an inspiration for the upcoming generation. It might sound silly but when others learn something from me that would be an amazing feeling.

7. I want to earn on my own and not depend on others. Because I believe being independent is what everyone has to think about and also one can do whatever that person wishes to do. Hence, I want to work and earn my livelihood.

8. I always wished and loved to watch snow fall. Wearing a 2 or 3 layered clothes, a monkey cap on the head, gloves in the hands and walking, playing and enjoying in the snow is what I want to do. It brings happiness to me as I always dreamt to do this at least once in my life time.

9. I always wanted to learn guitar. Because it looks classy when one plays guitar. And I always wanted the feeling of playing guitar.

10. Night campaign with friends or family is another thing which I want to do at-least once in my life. Life shouldn’t be always lived inside the four walls. Sometimes it is necessary to experience the feeling of how it is to stay outside the house.

11. Riding an artificial thing is common thing that everyone does. But riding a living thing is more adventurous. I mean to say I would like to ride a horse. Though I am a little scared of speediness, it will bring a great pleasure for me to ride a horse.

12. Cooking is something which I love the most. But I want to do is to bake a cake and make my family eat them. Baking a cake is not an easy task. But nothing is impossible in this world.

13. One might have experienced staying in a normal hotel or a lodge. But has anyone thought how it would be to stay in an Ice-hotel in Sweden? Yes. Staying in an Ice hotel might sound ridiculous. But it can be an amazing experience to stay there.

14. Have a spa in a luxurious Parlour is another thing which I want to add in my bucket list. Not every girl can afford for saloon. But if they really want to enjoy it, then one has to work hard to earn the livelihood and only then she can afford it.

15.  I have had an experience of travelling in an aeroplane and have enjoyed the beauty of the world. But I would love to travel at-least once in my lifetime in a helicopter and want to know the difference between travelling in both these aeroplane and helicopter.

16. Staying in a resort or a luxury hotel is a pleasure. But staying in a tree house is a peaceful activity. And I need to experience staying in the tree house. I believe that staying there is a peaceful thing than staying in the concrete jungle.

17. My all time favourite place to stay and settle is in Dubai. I am very much attracted to that place. It is because there are beautiful places which I can visit.

18. Another place which I want to visit before I die is to watch the Seven Wonders of the World. Again, it might sound ridiculous, but I want to add this in my bucket list.

19. The next thing which I want to do would sound a little funny. But I want to try this experiment which none of them might have tried in their life. It is about learning to crack an egg in one hand. Though it becomes a failed experiment, I would still like to learn it.

20. Unplanned tours are much more fun than planned tours and this is what I would like to do with my friends. It brings more happiness and also feels relaxed while you are in a vacation.

21. Whenever I go to Mumbai, I always wish that I meet Akshay Kumar once, as he is my favourite actor. Taking a selfie with a celebrity will make me feel proud and happy. 

22. Meeting Mr. Narendra Modi, The Prime Minister of India, is another thing which I want to add in my bucket list. Meeting a famous personality will bring me happiness and publicity.

23. I am not a winner in running race, but what I would like to do in my life is go for a marathon and run for a better cause.

24. I have a great craze for photo-shoot. Though I am not a model, I always have a wish for a photo-shoot by the top professional photographer. I always like candid pictures rather than a normal one.

25. What can be more than earning on your own and owning your own house. I would like to be independent and own a house of my own where I need not listen or depend on anyone.

26. Another exciting place which I would love to visit once in my lifetime is visit a New- York place during Christmas. New- York will be decorated like a bride during Christmas and I would love to experience.

27. Every human being will have a dream or a wish to become famous or an inspiration to others so that a book on him can be written either by him which is an Auto- Biography or by someone else, that is, a Biography and get it published.

28.  I always dream of enjoying in a snow. It also includes making a snow man and clicking a seflie with a snow man, I created. Playing in a snow is my favourite activity and the experience is amazing to play with the snow.

29. I have once visited a chocolate factory and also had chocolates there for free. It is wonderful and fun to have chocolates in the chocolate factory because they are given for free. I would like to go again to the factory and fill my stomach with lot many chocolates.

30. Las Vegas is a famous city which is meant to party. If my pocket is full of money, then I would like to visit this beautiful place and party there. Life cannot be boring all the time. Some sort of chilling is required.

31. Attending Armaan Mallik’s Concert is another thing which I want to add in my bucket list. I am a die- hard fan of Armaan Mallik. The way he sings is really mesmerising.

32. See a mummy in the Pyramids of Egypt. I don’t know much about this. But I would like to visit this place and learn what it is all about.

32. Sudoku is my all time favourite game. There is one more game which is interesting but it is difficult to solve. I am talking about Rubix Cube. It is one of the crazy games making a person go mad.

33. Watching how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. This is another interesting thing which I want to see and learn.

34. As I mentioned earlier that I want to have an album of my own, I would also like to act in a movie. Not being a leading actress but a side actress and working with some famous celebrity is what I want to do.

35. Another adventurous thing which I want to do is to climb the rock. I am not an expert, but I would love to learn how rock climbing will be done.

36. Trekking is another interesting adventure which I want to do along with my friends. These adventurous things help us to relax and make our minds fresh. It gives us lot many things to learn in our life.  

37. I spoke about staying in an ice hotel, a tree house and a luxury apartment. Apart from this, I am also excited to stay in a boat house. This is something where- in I will have an experience of staying on the water.

38. One more interesting thing which I want to do is river rafting along with my best buddies. Yes, it is a risky activity. But the fun which I will experience would be out of my imagination.

39. Kissing a dolphin would be a cute thing I can ever do. It is said that dolphins are the friendliest kind of creature and is harmless. So, I will not mind kissing it and I am less scared too.

40. I am afraid of the reptiles especially the ones who don’t have legs. Yes, I am talking about Snakes, python and cobra. But once I would like to hold a python. I mean to say a harmless python.

41. There was a time when magicians used to mesmerise me with their magic. The same sort of happiness I would like to give to the little kids who enjoy these magic shows.

42. I want to help at-least one kid in my life, who cannot afford for anything. It can be education, or toys, or anything where-in she has the right to get everything in her life. I want to make her/him happy but this small charity of mine.

43. One of the favourite parts is, going for a long drive. These are some-things which make me feel fresh and re-live. It helps me to explore more and more about the nature and its beauty and it is very relaxing activity.

44. I am very bad at drawing. But one fine day, I would like to do a sketch of my own and frame it so that the world comes to know about my new talent.

45. As I mentioned earlier, buying a house on my own money is what I want to do in my life. Along with that, I want to buy a car of my own and make my parents happy. The parents will be happiest ones when they see their standing on their own legs.

46. I want to go at the top of the EIFFEL TOWER. This is something interesting and also I think one day I will definitely do it in my life.

47. Reading novels is not a great interest in me. It depends on the interest that I get to read the book. And also the type of the book which would be interesting. Especially the Mysterious Novel.

 48. Like everyone, I am scared of horror movies. But once in my lifetime, I have a wish to watch the horror movie in a theatre. Hope this will come true and also I come back alive if in-case I watch the movie.

49. Another thing which I want to add in my bucket list is to have a concert of my own and I too should have fans of mine.

50. And the last thing which I want to do in my life is to marry a dream boy of my life. Have a big fat Indian wedding. This is something which I want to add in my bucket list like every girl dreams to get married to a dream boy.
